Marie Claire Weighs in on Small Busts

We're delighted to see that Marie Claire is commenting in on small busted women too! Below is the online article published on September 3, 2010 in response to the New York Times running "For the A-Crowd, Minimal Assets are a Plus."

By Maura Kelly

Did you guys see the story in yesterday's New York Times about the latest trend — small breasts? According to the article, it's cool these days to have tiny tits. As Elisabeth Dale (née Squires), who wrote Boobs: A Guide to Your Girls, told the Times, there has been "a huge surge in Web sites and online retailers that specialize in smaller bra sizes in a very empowering way." (Check out evesappleslingerie.com, for example.) The Times writer goes on to say: "These days, it's not uncommon for women with modest busts to flaunt what little they've got with a deep V-neck cut or a halter top." She also notes that there are a number of Facebook groups peopled by flat-chested and small-breasted women who are proud of their barely-there mammaries.

(Along somewhat similar lines, The Daily Beast recently ran a story about all the celebrities who were so unhappy with the size of their boobs after they got implants that they decided to have them removed.)

I myself have B-cups only on very good days (i.e., days when I stuff some socks down there). These come in handy when I exercise, because they mostly stay put — though I prefer jogging with a sports bra, I could get away with just wearing a tight tank top. But I do often wish I had bigger boobs, because I think they'd make me look better in lots of outfits — particularly dresses and skirts with tight tops.

But the dudes I've dated seemed to think my A-sized boobs were A-okay. One guy said, for instance, "They fit pretty well in one hand — anything bigger would just be wasted."

Is there anything much better than that to be said on the topic? I don't think so.

Nonetheless, I asked a few of my male friends to weigh in on the question: Does size matter when it comes to breasts?

Friend No. 1: BIG BOOBS ARE MOSTLY VISUALLY APPEALING
"I've noticed that the greatest thing about bigger breasts is that they can make a woman look great. They're not bad to touch, either, but I do think the main appeal is aesthetic. That said, an attractive woman with smaller breasts can be hot, too."

Friend No. 2: SMALL TO NONEXISTENT BOOBS ARE BEST IN ALL RESPECTS
"I don't know how to explain this, but I like small to nonexistent breasts best to look at it, and to touch. I don't like big ones at all."

Gayvin Powers, owner and founder of Eve’s Apples online lingerie boutique and Eve’s Apples Lingerie Blog (www.evesapples.blogspot.com), personally knows how hard it is to find a dependable bra that fits when you’re small busted.

Adult women with small breasts have different needs than young girls who are getting their first training bras. Yet, many adult women are stuck shopping in the tween department or buying bras similar to their first training bras. It goes without saying that traditionally small busted women have been exceptionally challenged when searching for a simple t-shirt bra, let alone sexy lingerie and lacy intimate apparel that make her look and feel her best, like a woman.

With a love of French lingerie, Gayvin handpicked domestic and European bras, in smaller cup sizes, that are high quality, give an exceptional fit as well as look and feel exquisite on a woman’s body. Eve’s Apples provides a variety of romantic, functional, comfortable and sexy bras for a woman’s needs. No more searching for bras in the tween department.

To accommodate women’s varying lifestyles, Eve’s Apples carries contour bras by Chantelle, push up bras by Huit, “Atlantis” the ultimate gel t-shirt bra by Panache, lacy bralettes by Eberjey, fun, flirty Blush lingerie, Cosabella’s extraordinary Talco bra (known as the “perfect yoga bra”), comfortable and sexy lingerie by Fleur’T and Keep Me, classic, sexy bras by onGossamer (adding up to a full bra cup size), petite bras by The Little Bra Company and demi cup bras by Timpa, just to name a few.

Bras are priced between $30 - $90, providing high-quality, everyday bras and sexy lingerie at affordable prices. Online, each product has additional product and brand information listed to help customers with a confident online purchase. Fun, interactive tools also aid in an easy shopping experience.

From the Eve's Apples Bra Finder (helping women find bras that suit their needs and breast type), to the Gift Finder, Videos, Wish List, Send an E-Card, Tips for Men and Advice section, shopping for small cupped bras and petite lingerie is finally an easy, fun online shopping experience. Whether a small busted or petite woman is interested in cleavage enhancing bras, adding a bra cup size, a sports bra, soft cup bras without underwire, or lacy bralettes, Eve’s Apples has a bra that suits her needs, personality and helps her look and feel her best.
