What is old is new again!

It's the end of summer, but who says that you can't hang onto it a little longer?

Try this refreshing Blood Orange Martini by Martha Stewart and put on a pair of your favorite lingerie from season's past.

One of my all time favorite lingerie images from a past Princesse Tam Tam campaign is the gorgeous coral lingerie in a field of matching poppies (image above). The image screams Spring, Summer and new beginnings to me.

So before you give into the changing of the season, do yourself a favor, put on some inspirational lingerie, make this delicious Blood Orange Martini and revel in the last days of summer!

Intimate Inspirations: Designer Interviews ~ Part 1

Eve interviews Emily Lau, Owner and Designer of The Little Bra Company, about the inspirations behind her vava-voom enhancing bras for small busted women.

"Southern California native Emily Lau has combined her love of lingerie and need for cleavage to create THE LITTLE BRA COMPANY—a brand that celebrates the fact that good things do come in small packages. Years of shopping in department stores and sexy lingerie catalogs left Emily supremely frustrated, as she discovered that the bras that fit well looked like training bras and the sexy styles never fit quite right. She was not alone. Many of her petite girlfriends shared her lament and longed for a little help to fill out the latest fashions. Emily’s desire to make the most of her assets (without silicon or saline) prompted her to make the perfect little bra…with a BIG push."

Lingerie Metamorphosis: Butterflies by Claire Pettibone

One of my favorite people in the lingerie industry is Ellen Lewis. Ellen, an intimate apparel guru for over 20 years, recently started her own blog called Lingerie Briefs. A romantic at heart, Ellen believes that "lingerie is the poetry in a woman's wardrobe."

While at Curvexpo in NY, I had the pleasure of running into Ellen and discovering a new favorite line called the "Butterflies Collection" by Claire Pettibone. The following is what Ellen had to say about the Butterflies Collection on her blog:

"It’s been raining all summer in the Northeast. So when the sun broke through last week for two consecutive days, it was a pleasure to actually sit outside on my porch and witness a butterfly floating through the milkweeds. The rainy weather has kept us cocooned since spring. It’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of August and these colorful gems, often regarded as flying flowers, have already begun their migration south. I am hopeful that their presence is a sign of change. After all, it has been said that 'if nothing ever changed, there’d be no butterflies.' This then, is an apt name for the new Butterflies Collection by Claire Pettibone. Claire has managed to enrich the fundamental elements of a lingerie wardrobe with a fresh and vivid new vision. Mesh and lace panties, camisoles and chemises are powered by a colorful garden of placement prints. There is the unique impression of body art. Function and femininity morph together to create a fairytale quality in timeless basics."

Ellen sums up perfectly this extraordinary, lovely, and feminine line. For more on Ellen and her fabulous blog, click on Lingerie Briefs. You can also follow Lingerie Briefs on Twitter.

For more information on the Butterflies Collection, keep checking back with Eve's Apples. We'll be bringing you the latest on the line. Until then, my dear Lingeristas, enjoy the magic of summer and keep "Celebrating Your Inner Eves!"

Anna Exposed: Luxurious Lingerie

My first training bra was given to me by a friend in first grade. She was surprised I didn't have one. Coming from an old school Russian home, my mom just didn't think I needed one yet because she didn't get her first one until her early teens.

Through the years my underwear drawer expanded. I had the Monday through Sunday panties, which were never quite worn the right day of the week. My first thong was introduced to me by my sister, which I wore with reluctance until I grew to love them more than regular panties.

Even as I got older, underwear was always just an afterthought for me, something practical and necessary. Nudes and black, with the occasional striped Hanes panty thrown in. My friends felt it necessary to give me cute lacy underwear as gifts in order to save my pitiful underwear drawer.

(Anna, above left, and Eve, above right, at La Mode de France Fashion Show in NY)

When Eve invited me to go as her assistant to CURVE NY, the lingerie fashion EXPO in New York City, I said "yes", not really knowing what to expect. There entered a whole new world of lace, silk and beautiful garments that I didn't imagine before. Soft ivory colors, pinks, and lavenders, mixed with spunkier oranges and reds. Styles could be found for anyone: romantic, funky, casual, and Gothic. They had beautiful things for large breasted women and small breasted women, casual underwear and super sexy lingerie.

At the end of the second day and a fantastic French fashion show, I realized that a women's underwear isn't just for practical reasons, or for special occasions, it's a celebration of what a woman is; beautiful from the inside all the way out.

Heidi Klum talks Guitar Hero with Ellen!

One of my favorite commercials of the past year is the add for the Guitar Hero video game featuring the lovely Heidi Klum dancing around with a guitar in her lacy black bra and matching panties.

Shortly after the add aired, Heidi appeared on the
Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss the finer points of her hilarious appearance in the commercial, including the headache she suffered from headbanging as well as her scrapped up knees from sliding across the floor.

Heidi mentions that there were two versions of the commercial, filmed by director
Brett Ratner. Heidi looks like she is having a blast!

Schiesser underwear, out of the Netherlands, is a leading manufacture of modern, fashionable and distinct underwear collections for ladies, men and children, but they are perhaps best known for their banned Belgian "Nurses Lingerie" add.

The Quotable Lingerista ~ Stella McCartney

"I have always wanted to do lingerie. I’ve been inspired by lingerie since a very early age, I was obsessed with beautiful French slips, lace inlays and handwork. When I think about lingerie I tend to think of really handmade precious pieces so I’ve always wanted to do it and I guess the intimacy that a woman has with her lingerie is quite inspiring, it means quite a lot, it’s a very personal purchase that to me is quite intriguing."
